Abstract

Objective: Light curing system is prevalent use for dental sealant in recent year. There are several kinds of the source for curing light as Halogen light type, plasma Arc type and LED Light type. The purpose of the experiment shows the comparison of the compressive strength, by use of the various types of the light source and light time, in order to help for selection of the light gun is clinical.

Materials and Method : 3 types of light source guns as Halogen (3M ESPE) Visilux 2 W/L: 380-500 nm LED (3M ESPE) Elipar Free Light W/L: 440-490 nm, and Plasma Arc PAC(Union Medical-White Ace) W/L 450-490 nm were selected Light source power was measured as the highest in LED, next in Plasma Arc and the least in Halogen, otherwise the temperature was measured as the highest in plasma Arc, next, in Halogen and the least in LED, but theres was influenced by distance from the light source, otherwise, no influenced by exposure time.

Results: Compressive strength was more in 20 seconds irradiation than 10 seconds by use of plasma Arc, otherwise 30 seconds irradiation group was more hard than 20 seconds group in LED irradiation(p<0.05).

Conclusion: LED light source was best to use for sealant because of the lowest temperature on light source with high power and the better compressive strength for sealant samples.
